Xurros, a handcrafted-spanish donut food truck based out of Springfield, Missouri commissioned me to create their branded churro graphics along with table tents for events and promotional purposes.
Me, Myself, and Slime is a pattern created with an emphasis on movement. This energetic illustration was made for print purposes such as stationary, greeting cards, etc.
ClubLife is Lakewood Oaks Country Club’s monthly digital newsletter. I maximized viewership by redesigning the publication so that its primary purpose would be to be viewed on a phone. Modernizing the publication also helped to increase the appeal and overall legibility.
After meeting with Shelby Wayne CMT, one of my freelancing clients, we decided that it was time for a rebrand due to her recent career pivot from general massage to a prenatal massage focus. Shelby wanted her brand to be seen as professional yet friendly and target families but still be inviting to her current clients.
Our solution was a logo with three integral parts: a mother holding a baby, a lotus flower, and a heart in the middle for warmth and a welcoming essence.
Before an opening night Broadway performance at Starlight Theatre, each actor receives an invitation to the “Opening Night Party,” an event that has been a Starlight tradition for years. I redesigned the outdated invitation, focusing on a concept that showed the energy and vibrancy that Starlight Theatre embodies during a performance. Encouraging the stars to view the invitation as a ‘keepsake’ rather than a mass-produced invitation, I worked with three venue shots, a current color scheme, and a lot of layers.
These seven cohesive illustrations are spunky and made in the form of a short booklet promoting adoption. Being a kid-friendly read with child-like energy, I loved experimenting with rough edges and a muted but bold color scheme.
Christi is graduating from the Missouri State University Dietitian program in the coming Spring. She came to me with the need to create a portfolio website that would be a center for anyone looking to hire Christi for her expertise.
After meeting and configuring an effective layout and theme for Christi’s work, I created a vibrant expression of Christi’s passion for food and her profession using wix. View her site at https://christimackey.wixsite.com/portfolio .
Revel Advertising creates a new promotional design theme each year for its client, Missouri State University Athletics. I worked with the creative director and junior art director to brainstorm new concepts for the 2019-2020 theme. Below are a couple concepts I expanded on, both incorporating strong lines, smooth gradients, and streamline touches.
In my advanced typography class, we were challenged to design a poster for The United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We were required to include the following:
“All 30 articles must appear on the poster, but the single article that you are assigned [mine was article 19] will have to be “highlighted” among others—meaning you are giving it different treatment so that it clearly stands out from the rest. You will create a solid black-and-white concept first, then use colour to emphasize or counteract the underlying structure.”
This is my solution to this typographic challenge.
Lakewood Property Owners Association contains two lakes, two restaurants, three pools, multiple amenities, and over 5,000 residents. “The Ripples” is LPOA’s official information source, viewable online and through print delivery. After joining the team at Lakewood, I have increased online viewership and CTR over just six months through art direction and new content addition.
RY: art direction, some design, content creation, proofing

Concept for a large scale cookout event. Complete with placemats, signage possibilities, pattern options, and merchandise options.
At Missouri State University, my team interviewed a real-world client, Vivo Hair Salon. Being the graphic designer and lead campaign strategist, we positioned their brand and worked to make Vivo’s marketing plan integrated and cohesive. Our plansbook received first place for its all-encompassing objectives, applicability, and design.
Carolyn Dickson gave me a call when she began updating her personal business. With years of interior design experience under her belt, my job was to update her current brand identity to fit what she was able to accomplish currently. Carolyn’s original logo was too playful and kid-like for the target audience that she saw for herself.
After the rebrand process, Carolyn’s new brand package expressed midwest class, upscale charm, and professional execution, which is exactly what Carolyn Dickson Interior Design and Estate Sales offers its clientele.
During my internship at Starlight Theatre, the biggest event of the summer was Starlight’s self-produced show, The Wizard of Oz. For the show, I created the designs for a line of album covers paired with custom playlists to help encourage interaction and audience participation throughout Starlight’s blog, Spotify account, and social media platforms.
Here I have highlighted a couple of editorial graphics that can be found in the 2021-2022 ClubLife newsletters.
This sassy passion project is an example of my hand lettering capabilities. When illustrating or hand lettering a project, my process usually begins by working out the composition on paper and transferring the sketch to Photoshop, Illustrator, or Procreate.
